The Silk Factory has been involved in Sericulture for over 20 years. Sericulture is the rearing of silk worms for the purpose of producing silk. We have been working closely with local silk farming communities in India, China and Vietnam, financing them and guiding them, so that they can focus on producing a high grade silk cocoon which we can then further arrange to be reeled and woven into yarns and fabrics.
From Mulberry Tree Plantation, to Cocoon reeling to weaving, The Silk Factory has an intimate knowledge of the industry and its latest technologies and developments. We regularly give seminars on Sericulture, sharing our knowledge and love for silk with fashion students and Industry such as Garment producers.
Seminars can cover a wide variety of topics depending on the audience, and we are happy to tailor seminars to the client’s needs. Whether it is a master class on silk fabrics structures, and their common uses and limitations, or whether it is an in depth knowledge of the best practices in farming, we can deliver a presentation suitable for your audience.
Feel free to contact us for further information on organising a seminar at your fashion school or company.
